Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to demonstrate a correlation between the expression of muscarinic receptors and cell migration. In an immunohistochemical study of the muscarinic receptors in human melanoma tissue, melanoma cells and polymorphnuclear granulocytes (PMN) showed intense staining. To clarify this observation, and to find an easily accessible model of the muscarinic system in migrating cell, the muscarinic receptor expressed by PMN and the human melanoma cell line SK-Mel 28 was characterized. Furthermore, migration assays were performed to show the modulation of chemotaxis by stimulation of the muscarinic receptor in the melanoma cell line SK-Mel 28.
