Religion und Gewalt – Konfliktpotential als Dialogimperativ

Abstract

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem inhärenten Gewaltpotential von Religion und zugleich mit ihrer Rolle als Instanz zur Konfliktbewältigung. Ausgehend von Überlegungen zum Verhältnis von Religion und Gewalt wird ein Vorschlag unterbreitet, wie durch interkulturellen und interreligiösen Dialog Kompetenzen gefördert werden können, die einen konfliktfreien Umgang mit dem Gewaltpotential der einzelnen Religionen ermöglichen.

This essay argues that religion not only is of assistance in overcoming violence, but has an inherent potential for violence as well. Based on reflections on the correlation of reli-gion and violence this essay suggests that intercultural and interreligious dialogue pro-motes skills for conflict-free dealings with the potential for violence of the different religions.
