Randeffekt - Problematik fragmentierter Biotope am Beispiel ausgewilderter Birkhühner (Tetrao tetrix LINNAEUS 1758) in dem Moorkomplex Wurzacher Ried

Abstract

In dem 1812 ha großen Naturschutzgebiet 'Wurzacher Ried' wurden in fünf Jahren 1988 - 1993) 93 ausgelassene Birkhühner mit Hilfe von Peilsendern beobachtet. Die Gewichtsentwicklung, die Mobilität, die Aktionsraumgrößen und die Habitatnutzung der Tiere war mit denen autochthoner Populationen vergleichbar. Das Struktur- und Nahrungspotential des Wurzacher Riedes ist für eine Population von knapp 70 Birkhühnern ausreichend. Eine dauerhafte Wiederansiedlung scheiterte an der hohen Gelegeprädation, die als Folge der isolierten Lage des Wurzacher Riedes in einem hochproduktiven Umland gewertet wird.

During five years (1988 - 1993) 93 released black grouses were observed with the help of tags in the 1812 ha large nature reserve 'Wurzacher Ried'. The development of weight, mobility, home range and habitat use of the birds was comparable to those of wild populations. The structure- and food potential of the Wurzacher Ried is sufficient for a population of almost 70 black grouses. A successfull reintroduction failed due to the high predation of nests, which is judged as a consequence of the isolated position of the Wurzacher Ried in a highly productive surrounding countryside.
