Abstract:
The PhD-Thesis tests the assumptions of some neurologists (researchers in brain activities), to be able to fully explain religion. A main focus is the works of US-neurologist Andrew Newberg. The work comes to the conclusion, that the assumptions of the in the meantime so-called "neurotheologians" cannot stand testing through theories of knowledge, but are themselves of a religious nature. Nevertheless, neurobiological contributions enrich interdisciplinary debates and inqiuries and could, if self-reflected, evolve to an important part of the science of religion.
