Inhaltszusammenfassung:

Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit dem Bau der Baikal-Amur-Magistrale (BAM), einer sibirischen Eisenbahnlinie, die ab 1974 gebaut wurde. Mit Konzepten aus der amerikanischen frontier-Forschung will er herausarbeiten, in welchem Verhältnis dieses größte technische und soziale Projekt der Breshnev-Ära zu Sibirien stand und welche Vorstellungen Bilder dabei eine Rolle spielten.

Abstract:

This article deals with the construction of the Baikal Amur Mainline (BAM), a Siberian railway begun in 1974. Employing concepts of American frontier research, it works out the relation of this largest technological and social project of the Brezhnev era with Siberia and the notions of Siberia that played a role in the process.
