Kontinuität und Störung: (Ostdeutsche) PolizistInnen auf der Suche nach Ordnung

Abstract

Die Situation ostdeutscher Polizistinnen wird aus lebensweltlicher Perspektive beschrieben. Radikaler sozialer Wandel wirkt sich auf die Wahrnehmung von Kriminalität, die zugeschriebene Rolle der Polizei und die Selbstdarstellung der Polizisten aus. Ein Vergleich der Entwicklung von polizeilichen Handlungsstrategien in West- und Ostdeutschland macht deutlich, daß es den Beamten in Ostdeutschland noch nicht gelungen ist, ein adäquates Selbstbild zu entwickeln. Sie schwanken in der Selbstzuschreibung zwischen "crime fighter" - und "remedy agent" - Phantasien und sind im übrigen nach wie vor ziemlich obrigkeitsorientiert.

This paper presents a life perceptive view on police officers in a state (Land) in former East Germany. The collapse of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) had a rather radical impact on perception of the delinquency as well as of the rote of the police. Compared to longstanding strategies of policing in West-Germany, the East German police force has not yet developed an adequate interpretation of its rote and tasks. "Crime-fighter" and "remedy-agent" seem to be competing images while there still is a comparatively strong authority-oriented attitude.
