Die Dissertation untersucht die wiederkehrenden vielfältigen Bezüge auf Gott im Minnesang, seine Etablierung sowie seine Rollen und Funktionen für den Entwurf und die Diskussion der Minnekonzepte. Religiöses Wissen stellt, so kann die Studie aufzeigen, ein essentielles Element im Minnesang dar und muss als konstitutiv für dessen Verständnis aufgefasst werden. Gezeigt wird dies an einer Vielzahl exemplarischer Analysen und Interpretationen verschiedener Liedtypen.
